Who Am I?

This past week I sat at a conference room table while my boss told someone that I am a “News Junkie”. I kinda liked that. His exact words were “Joe is a has an absolute passion for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and sprinkle it with the fact that he’s a news junkie, you’ve just never seen a geek so happy”.
This blog was originally created as a platform for me to share my findings, in the world of SEO and (more so) affiliate marketing. I was never a full-time affiliate marketer and the posts were too sporadic. I started interjecting SEO into the mix, but the position that I held at the time didn’t allow for tons of experimenting. Since getting back into the newspaper industry I can’t stop writing. I can’t stop sharing findings, suggestions and anything else that comes my way. That isn’t to say that you won’t see an occasional post about Affiliate Marketing on this blog, you probably will. I do still market a few companies. The ones that I consistently make money with. And no, I won’t tell you which ones.
I have always studied development and code. Design was never my thing and to this day it scares me. It’s just a pure time waster for me and thank God for outsourcing. In 2003/2004 I co-authored the Visual QuickPro Guide for Flash MX2004. It was a fantastic experience and one that I am grateful to be a part of. It awarded me the opportunities to speak (and sign) at events like Flash Forward and at User Groups, Colleges, etc. Honestly though, I’d never do again. You can see more at Amazon (Visual QuickPro Guide for Flash MX2004 – Chun/Garraffo) </shameless self promotion>. I have also contributed to three other Flash, books.
SEO became a natural transition for me. With so many freelance clients and the companies I worked for being so hungry to attract new traffic (organically), I dove right in. You’ll often find me at conferences like SES, SMX, AdTech and even Affiliate Summit. I’m starving to learn and test what’s new and upcoming. It became a thrill for me to work with the writers when Google News launched and traffic started to boom. People from all over were reading their stories and the search engines were to thank. Understanding and working with them became a necessity and one that to this day, I love!
Sometimes you’ll see posts that are super simple. I use those posts to catalog my thoughts or experiences, so I don’t have to go through and do the research again. I won’t lie though, I did my keyword homework on those articles and hopefully they brought you to my blog.
For instance, I have an incredible passion for cycling/Road Bikes. I spend from April till October riding and trying to get in as many miles as possible. It’s an amazing high after completing a ride. The biggest thing I’ve learned and would like to share with you is Spandex is less cool the further you are away from your bike.
After your first day of cycling, one dream is inevitable. A memory of motion lingers in the muscles of your legs, and round and round they seem to go. You ride through Dreamland on wonderful dream bicycles that change and grow.
~H.G. Wells, The Wheels of Chance
Cycling is my escape from the real world and lets me sort my thoughts and meditate on life. During my “off” months, when not cycling I cook, eat a lot and get fat… In a way, I’m eating so I can make my weight loss goals during the summer.
Thanks for reading!
